Hold Me While I Cry
It's been one of those days ...
If anything could go wrong it went wrong
I know I'm feeling sorry for me
There's a lot of self-pity going on
Tomorrow I will be okay
The dawn will bring a brand new day
I'm sure by then I'll be fine
Lord, today I really need a friend
I know that You would understand
Would You hold me while I cry?
I take a lot of Your time
When I should be strong
I should be standing by now
But it's You I'm leaning on
You've always kept me safe from harm
Like a child in Your arms
You've cradled me through hardships faced in life
Lord, it's just one of those days
I've been fought in every way
Will You hold me while I cry?
I try to be strong
But if anyone can fall apart, I fall apart
I run back to You again
And You heal my broken heart
You have truly been a friend
Reaching out to lend a hand
Lord, when You could have passed me by
I'm asking for Your strength today
Lift my spirit, Lord I pray
Will You just hold me while I cry?
I take a lot of Your time
When I should be strong
I should be standing by now
But it's You I'm leaning on
You've always kept me safe from harm
Like a child in Your arms
You've cradled me through hardships faced in life
Lord, it's just one of those days
I've been fought in every way
Will You hold me while I cry?
You've always kept me safe from harm
Like a child in Your arms
You've cradled me though hardships faced in life
Lord, it's just one of those days
I've been fought in every way
Would you hold me while I cry?
This touching song from Karen Peck & New River in 2005 speaks to a lot of people who try to do their best and constantly feel like they fall short. Let me rephrase: This song speaks to me because sometimes I feel like I am trying to do the best that I can, but end up making things worse.
Do you ever have those days when everything you touch seems to go wrong? Your kids won't stop fighting, or you're running late for work your gas light comes on, or your phone dies during a conference call because the dog chewed up the charger again? Sometimes we have days where no matter what we do, things just go wrong. We get stressed out about things that we normally can handle and struggle to do things that we usually do with ease.
I've had my share of these days, and trust me, they're no fun, but God is there through it all. He knows when we struggle. He knows when we're doing everything we can and it's still not enough. He knew all along that we would have these days. Paul had bad days sometimes and wrote to the church of Corinth about what God revealed to him about it. He said in II Corinthians 12:9 "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness."
Just remember that God will always be there to dry your tears and comfort you when you need Him. You don't have to face it alone
